You just need to register an account. Guest edits are disabled to help prevent vandalism.

I have a registered account (under the same name as here) and there is no edit tab o.O . did i miss doing something?

EDIT: the system keeps throwing an error when it tries to send my confirmation email. might be it.

Set $wgShowExceptionDetails = true; at the bottom of LocalSettings.php to show detailed debugging information.

This is what pops up when i hit resend confirmation email. I do not receive anything in my email so i do not think its actually sending one.
