Im wondering what people think of this idea:

First number never changes.
Second number is the major version number, it indicates that a patch has got a decent amount of changes and that it has had quite a bit of testing.
Third Number means that its a smaller patch which has received some amount of testing.
Forth number means that its a hotfix which may or may not have received any testing.

Only for patches which increase the second number would a "Full" patch be released. For ones which don't a Full Version to Current Version patch would be released (Like the 1.12.2 -> 1.12.3 which was recently released).

Note: If a number is missing then it is assumed to be a Zero. I.E 1.12.2 is 1.12.2.0 and 1.12 is 1.12.0.0 .

Currently there is not really any "Guidelines" as to how patches should be numbered and its currently upto whoever is the one which wants to release a patch at that time as to the version number.

I think it's a good idea. A positive vote from my side.
