Just for the record, bill gates stole steve jobs code, and make a company. microsoft only have success because its more easy to use than Mac...

You need a history lesson...
http://inventors.about.com/library/weekly/aa033099.htm
http://www.skrause.org/computers/dos_history.shtml

In short:
CP/M >> QDOS >> MS-DOS

so the first one was Gary Kildall AND NOT Steve Job's ...
In the story's Gary mist his appointment, thats why Gates got the project.(this is the story that is in the Aries Software Academy)

On about the OW2 story:

You don't need a company just a pre-made engine and a few developers:)

Since I'm no developer and don't intend on being one, you can't count on me for that.
I tried using Torque(school license) or some other Open-source engine (http://www.ogre3d.org/) to make OW2, but since i don't have a INDIE license i can't release it.(i made it in Torque for a school project)
Anyway there are lots of Open-source 3D engine's, you just need a community to back you:)
Since i see how the OW community is sometimes acting towards Stucuk, i'm not even thinking about it.

EDIT:

More Easy to use then mac.... DUDE you ever used a Mac?
That's the reason most ppl use a Mac (no need to install software, drivers are no problem(if its not supported, it just wont work)).
Mac was the first with a GUI, that's why Mac's are used for 3D rendering and photoshopping

Hahahaha Stu is like the only person in this thread making ANY sense, People talking about "confidence" and shit. OW2 would be amazing, but the idea of a development team wanting to invest in a sequel to a failed release, and then some crazy publisher going "yeah, we'll finance this game that has like 30 people on the internet interested" I'm gonna say that will NEVER happen. if an Independent group wants to create and release it, they'd have to release it for free, or pay a royalty to the owners of the original.
It's definitely a ridiculous pipe dream, and it won't happen, it's a shame because during my active years on this game in like 2002-2004, it was my favourite game of all time. Especially since the online was freaking awesome. I would literally LOVE if this somehow happened, but it won't.
